Robert

Enjoying retirement

Background

Robert first met with us five years ago when he had just sold his business and semi-retired. He asked his accountant for a recommendation and was given our name. Robert had two aims in coming to Rowley Turton; he was looking for financial advice on how to use the profits of the sale of his business to replace his salary, as selling his business meant losing his salary, and he wanted some sound advice on where to invest.

In Robert’s words

On both of those aims, they’ve scored heavily. They’ve been very good.

Scott made an immediate great impression. I like the man’s approach very much. He’s very engaging, which of course isn’t the be-all and end-all of a professional relationship. But it helps when the communication is good and they communicate at the level you want them to.

Communication is as frequent as I want it to be. If I want to speak to someone, I know I can give Scott a ring and if he’s not free, he’ll always get back to me. And the same can be said of Martin Stanley; he’s very competent too.

I’m semi-retired now. I could never fully give up work, that just wouldn’t be me. When it comes to retirement, the utopian position is to be able to work when you want to work and not when you don’t. And that is what I’ve managed with Scott’s help.
